12-year-old rides Telkom 947 Cycle Challenge

JOBURG – Twelve-year-old, Tamsin Watcham was one of the youngest cyclists to participate in the Telkom 947 Cycle Challenge.

 

Broadacres resident, Tamsin Watcham (12) was one of the youngest riders to finish this year’s Telkom 947 Cycle Challenge in just under five hours.

The cycle challenge, which is the second largest mass participation timed cycling event in the world, marked its 20th edition and took place at Riversands Commercial Park.

This was the first time young Watcham participated and she came in 40 minutes before the second cyclist in her age group.

Watchman’s mom, Tracy said, “I hope Tamsin’s ride will inspire other girls on their bikes to do this massive race.”

The organisers of the event wished Watcham all the best in her cycling and hoped to see her at next year’s cycle challenge.
