JOBURG – MTN to kickoff its care and volunteer campaign with a road race on 4 June.

MTN SA, through its corporate social investment unit, MTN SA Foundation, will kick-off its annual 21-day Y’ello Care Campaign on 4 June with a 21km half marathon starting at the MTN Innovation Centre in Fairland.

The half marathon allows employees, members of the public and the company’s stakeholders to give back to communities by devoting time to help others.

The foundation plans to use the half marathon to raise funds for a mobile computer lab which will be donated to a school that is yet to be identified. The theme for this year’s half marathon is, Walk or run for ICT in education.

The foundation’s general manager, Kusile Hairwadzi-Mtunzi, believes the personal fulfillment employees get from volunteering, fosters high levels of loyalty and productivity across the company. “With the 21km marathon, the MTN Foundation is continuing its efforts to integrate the company and employees into the fabric of our society, and create possibilities to change lives,” she said.

To participate in this year’s 21km or 10km race and 5km fun run, interested individuals can register online at www.entrytime.com or simply get a form from Central Gauteng Athletics or Athletics Gauteng North offices or various gyms in Johannesburg.
