St David’s pupils impress at canoe sprint training races on Germiston Lake

INANDA – Three St David's Marist Inanda pupils did the school and community proud following their impressive performance at a recent school league event on Germiston Lake.

Thomas Wilmot, and Luke and Matthew Wilson, took part in the U8 sprint training races which included 200m, 500m and 1 000m distances at the Victoria Lake Canoe Club.

The Wilson brothers did well in the race with Luke placing first overall followed closely by his twin brother, Matthew, who came second. Wilmot finished in seventh position overall.

The young paddlers are preparing for the annual South African School Sprints Competition which will take place at the Shongweni Dam in KwaZulu-Natal at the end of March.

The race took place at the canoe club’s home at Germiston Lake on 27 February 2016 and saw various junior paddlers representing various clubs and schools throughout Gauteng.
