Sundowns clinch yet another premiership award

JOBURG - Absa Premiership log leaders, Mamelodi Sundowns, are R1.5 million richer after clinching yet another premiership award.

The Brazilians have been confirmed as the winners of the premiership’s Q-Innovation Quarter Two after their latest 2-0 victory against crosstown neighbours SuperSport United in the Tshwane derby.

Premier Soccer League acting CEO, Mato Madlala, congratulated the Tshwane outfit for winning the prize money thanks to their impressive form during this quarter of the league.

It was their victory against United that sealed the triumph for the Brazilians. They won the quarter with 19 points from seven matches, closely followed by Mpumalanga Black Aces in second place with 15 points, having played the same number of games.

“We would like to congratulate Mamelodi Sundowns management, coaching staff, the players and the club supporters for this achievement. Their unbeaten run in seven matches of this quarter makes them worthy winners of the Absa Premiership Quarter Two,” Madlala said.
