Lisa Williams is SA’s top ranked showjumper for 2015

KYALAMI - THE Federation Equestre Internationale (FEI) World Cup Jumping Standings for the South African League were released on the FEI website in the first week of December, and Kyalami’s Lisa Williams was named as the country’s top ranking showjumper for 2015.

 

Williams scored 66 points to top the log.

Behind her was Samantha McIntosh with 52 points to take second place, and Lorette Knowles-Taylor, who was previously reported on in, Ranking at number 2, week ending 27 November, ended up placing third in the rankings with 50 points.

Nicola Sime followed in fourth place; Jonathan Clarke in fifth; Ronnie Lawrence in sixth; Nicole Horwood, who has, among her showjumping feats, won the South African Derby three years in a row, in seventh; and Simon Hendry in eighth. Anne-Marie Esslinger, who clinched the win at the South African Derby this year, ranked in ninth place.

On the FEI website it said there were 45 riders who participated with 35 of the riders obtaining points. The rankings of all of the riders are listed on the FEI website.

The riders obtained points in a series of five FEI World Cup Qualifier shows and every riders’ top four results were counted. The qualifiers were held at different venues and ran from May to November. The first of the series was the Knowles Husain Lindsay INC Attorneys sponsored FEI World Cup Qualifier, CSI*-W Midrand, held at Kyalami Equestrian Park in May; then the Nissan 1.50m FEI World Cup Qualifier was held at the Durban Shongweni Club in Kwa-Zulu Natal in June; third was Reonet sponsored World Cup Qualifier held at Revil Stables in Polokwane in August, fourth was Equipe Selleria FEI World Cup Qualifier at Maple Ridge Equestrian Farm held in October and fifth was the Brother SA FEI World Cup Qualifier held at the Equidome in Beaulieu in November.
