Rivonia Primary School pupil wins big at karting champs

RIVONIA – With two impressive wins to his name, Karting champion, Kwanda Mokoena is doing the Sandton community proud.

 

The Rivonia Primary School pupil recently won the Mini Rok 60cc series and the Maxterino 60cc series, which both form part of the Motorsport South Africa 2015 Northern Regions Karting Championships held in Zwartkops Raceway.

The 11-year-old first clinched the Maxterino Championship, before following it up with the Mini Rok Championship, which he won a point ahead of National Rok Class Champion, Alton Bouw.

Kwame Mokoena, Kwanda’s mother, explained that the Grade 5 pupil started karting at the age of seven, when he started out as a cadet.

“Kwanda loves racing and his dream is to race cars in Europe one day. His favourite Formula One driver is Lewis Hamilton and the late Ayrton Senna,” she said.
