Saints Invitational Polo Tournament returns to Saints

SANDTON – The exciting Saints Invitational Water Polo Tournament returned to St Stithians College this year.

The tournament dubbed the largest schools water polo tournament in the world, was hosted at the school from 22 to 25 October and saw 58 schools from South Africa and Zimbabwe participate in various water polo games, all vying for top spot.

Frank Baker, chairperson of the tournament, explained that the tournament had been proudly hosted at the school for 22 years.

“The logistics were incredible, 250 games were played over four days [with] the Saints Aquatics Centre set up to hold four games concurrently,” he explained.

Baker added that hosting the tournament was a good branding opportunity for the school and a good way to showcase the school’s aquatic centre.

The tournament saw schools such as Crawford College, Fourways High School and St David’s Marist Inanda participate and concluded with Reddam House placing first in the junior girls’ and boys’ as well as senior girls categories.

The South African College High School placed first in the senior boys’ category.
