Liverpool at Wanderers

ILLOVO - With the aim of promoting sports and physical activity for the youth, medical aid provider Discovery launched the Liverpool FC Soccer Clinic at Wanderers Club. The clinic will run from 21 October to 25 October.

Head of Vitality Wellness at Discovery, Craig Nossel, said the clinic was an extension of their relationship with Liverpool FC which tied in with Discovery’s emphasis on youth physical development.

He said, “Soccer is one of the most widely played sports in the world. And we are using our relationship with the Liverpool FC youth clinic to promote sport and physical activity through a positive and inspirational experience.

“For most kids, the experience is aspirational. If you ask any child who plays soccer, they will know all about Liverpool FC, and giving them the opportunity to have some association is amazing.”

Anthony Godfrey, coaching resource manager for Liverpool FC said, “This is the first of, hopefully, many football clinics that we will be participating in, in Johannesburg. We will be coaching over 1 000 kids by the end of the week, teaching them the Liverpool way.”

Godfrey concluded that one of the main lessons taught at the clinic was respect for one another, for the coach and the game of soccer, which is at the top of his club’s philosophy.
