The festival attracts top water polo teams from around the country and has become known as the unofficial National Club Championship, as a number of past and current Springbok players have, and continue to, participate in different teams within the sporting event.
Houghton-based OJ Eagles Water Polo Club men’s water polo side has dominated the festival over the past few years and will possibly be the favourites once again to lift the trophy. They can expect a strong challenge from the University of Stellenbosch and the University of Cape Town (UCT) teams as well as from the home team, Old Eds.
UCT’s ladies water polo side won the women’s trophy last year and will once again have a strong team of players determined to retain the title.
In total, 21 teams will take part in the festival this year.
