Marlboro football club hosts annual Youth Day festival

MARLBORO - FEATURING a host of teams from Gauteng, Marlboro Gardens Football Club held its Marlboro Gardens FC Youth Day Festival at Marlboro Gardens Sports Complex.

The festival took place on 13 June ahead of Youth Day, and saw more than 100 teams take part, including sides from Laudium, Lenasia and Azaadville.

Lee Ebrahim, chairperson of the club said, “The objective of the festival is to promote soccer, create a space for our children to show their skills, have fun and to bring communities together.”

Ebrahim added that the mission of the club, in existence for 30 years, was to promote soccer and create a social get-together for children, with the goal being to make a difference in their lives.

He also thanked the community for their continued support, the soccer players for their participation, and the parents of the youngsters.

The festival is hosted annually by the club, and memorabilia is sold and raffles held with all proceeds going to a charity organisation in Alexandra which is chosen by the club.
