The Totalsports Women’s Race returns

JOBURG - One of the biggest woman-focused races in South Africa, the Totalsports Women's Race, is returning to SA and entries are officially open.

The race was initiated in 2010 and is now one of the most highly-anticipated races in South Africa.

It is just one of the events held in the country that supports PinkDrive – a public benefit organisation that raises money to build mobile cancer testing facilities. With cancer being one of the most prevalent illnesses in South Africa today, it is important that this race receives as much support as possible to aid in the building of these mobile centres.

The run is set to take place in Durban, Johannesburg and Cape Town’s small university town of Stellenbosch, and there are a number of different distances and categories women can sign up for, depending on the individual’s level of fitness and confidence.

The races will be held during July and August and are a great way for the ladies of Johannesburg to celebrate Women’s Day on 9 August. The marathon aims to assist all women in the country, especially those living with cancer.

This year, the Johannesburg leg of the race will begin at Mary Fitzgerald Square in Newtown.

There’s something for everyone, as all entrants will receive an exclusive fitted T-shirt, while finisher’s bracelets will be handed to all runners and walkers as they cross the finish line. This event not only raises money for its cause, but also encourages women to lead a healthier lifestyle and keep active to reduce the chance of developing any possible lifestyle-related illnesses.
