Nelson Mandela Bay Metro to host Nedbank Cup final

JOBURG - The Premier Soccer League, together with sponsors Nedbank, have announced the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in the Nelson Mandela Bay Metro as the host for the Nedbank Cup final.

The final will be between Ajax Cape Town and Mamelodi Sundowns. For the first time since the stadium was completed in 2009, the league has chosen this stadium to host a domestic cup final.

The final will be played on 16 May and kick-off is set for 3pm. “We are pleased to announce the Nelson Mandela Bay Metro as the hosts. We have two clubs that have displayed quality football from day one of this season’s tournament.

“We would like to congratulate Ajax Cape Town and Mamelodi Sundowns for reaching the final. We would like to thank our sponsors, Nedbank, for their co-operation during this edition. Together, we look forward to finishing this journey on 16 May,” said the CEO of the Premier Soccer League, Brand de Villiers.

Nedbank divisional executive for group marketing, Sydney Nhlanhla Mbhele added: “It’s been a remarkable Nedbank Cup season as players and teams consistently provided football lovers with unforgettable memories and we are looking forward to an equally exhilarating final.

“Since inception, the Nedbank Cup has contributed to the development of young talent and has given deserving players the opportunity to make their mark. As a bank for all, Nedbank remains committed to empowering soccer stars and communities with the skills and resources they need to make things that really matter happen.”
