Crawford wins big at Montrose tournament

LONEHILL - The netball team at Crawford Preparatory Lonehill did the school proud following their win at the Montrose Night Challenge Tournament.

The Lonehill-based school took part in the exciting cricket and netball festival, held annually for the past seven years, and saw the U11 netball team beat Bryandale in the finals to clinch the win.

The U13 girls also managed an impressive feat by making the semifinals and ended up fourth in their division.

Bronwyn Gordon, sports co-ordinator at Crawford Lonehill, explained that only the top U11 and U13 girls were selected to play in the netball division of the tournament and also how they managed the impressive win.

“The [selected] Crawford U11 team won the tournament overall by beating Redhill in the semifinal and [then] Bryandale in the final, making it their first-ever victory at the tournament,” she said.

The exciting tournament ran for seven weeks, with the various teams playing their matches on Friday nights.
