St David’s canoeists prepare

JOBURG - A group of U12 canoeists of St David's Marist Inanda competed against more than 100 competitors in a 1 000m race at Victoria Lake Canoe Club.

The race was the perfect preparation for the national inter-provincial and inter-school competition taking place in Roodeplaat from 30 April to 2 May.

Spokesperson for Gauteng Canoe Union, Jennie Dallas said, “St David’s Marist Inanda is one of the few schools in Gauteng that recognises canoeing as a school sport, and many juniors move on to boarding schools in Natal which specialise in canoeing.

“Due to the high number of participants representing the school, and accumulation of points earned from good finish positions, St David’s of Marist Inanda has won the junior schools category at the Gauteng annual events, as well as SA School inter-provincials on numerous occasions.”
