Bryanston team wins premier league

BRYANSTON - The Bryanston Sports Club women’s A team has won the District’s Saturday Premier Bowls League for the year 2014/2015.

Tony Mazaris, a member of the club’s committee, said, “This is an achievement that has been on the cards for them for a couple of years now. They had an outstanding year in the league.” He said after a gruelling round in the competition, where they played against the other top eleven club sides, they came out on top. He added that the team’s determination and comradery enabled them to win as a team. “An absolutely wonderful achievement,” he added.

The team of eight were also part of the Women’s Provincial Open and Seniors teams who came back with gold medals from a recent Inter District Tournament. The senior women’s team played in George and Oudshoorn, while the women’s open competition was held in Durban. “They are having a wonderful season and we hope that the trend continues,” said Mazaris.
