Parkmore resident takes on Klip River race

JOBURG - In preparation for the upcoming Dusi marathon this month, the two-day Klip River race put canoeists through their paces.

The race, which doubled up as the South Africa K1 Championship Interprovincial saw Parkmore resident, Nicole Willmot put to the test.

Jennie Dallas, media relations officer for Gauteng Canoe Union explained the impressive feat accomplished by Willmot in the race.

“Willmot performed exceptionally well in the tough arduous river race and swollen white water rapids,” said Dallas. “She managed to come in eighth overall in a time of six hours and 34 minutes over the two days,” she said.

Dallas added that Willmot had also partnered with her brother in the Eurosteel Jukskei River race two weeks ago, where they finished second in the mixed double category.
