Riding in style for Orange Babies

FOURWAYS - Orange will be one of the statement colours at the Momentum 94.7 Cycle Challenge, as 55 cyclists don coutre kits, designed by Marianne Fassler, to raise funds and awareness for Orange Babies.

Fashion designer, Marianne Fassler was approached by Orange Babies to come up with a unique cycling top that would attract attention to their cause on 16 November 2014.

“When Orange Babies asked me to design their cycling top, I started on a journey of identifying exactly what makes this specific charity, for which I am an ambassador, so unique and special,” explained >Fassler.

One of nearly 200 charities are using the cycle challenge to Ride for a Purpose. The Orange Babies foundation was established in 1999 and aims to prevent mother-to-child transmission of HIV. The foundation also provides care for orphaned and vulnerable children in South Africa, Namibia and Zambia. In the past 15 years, Orange Babies have saved thousands of lives and also assisted in drastically improving the quality of life for scores of other women and children.

“What attracted me to Orange Babies was the hands-on involvement and the passion shown to the project and its beneficiaries, most importantly the big smiles and positive energy they project wherever they go,” she explained.

Fassler designed a bright orange cycling top for the team. The cycling top had to be a happy one and had to be overwhelmingly orange, but it also had a very clear message stated Fassler. “Hopefully I have managed to infuse a bit of the exoticism of Africa, symbolised by the leopard print, in the very clear message that ‘Orange Babies cares,” said Fassler.

The public can support Orange Babies in their Ride for a Purpose.
