Show jumper does her best at World Equestrian Games

SANDTON - Show jumper Cara Frew from Sandton incurred 19 penalties in her show jumping class at the World Equestrian Games (WEG) in France.

She had an unfortunate elimination on 2 September. The SA Showjumping Facebook page posted the following comments from Frew:

“Today I rode as though my life depended on finishing the course,” said Frew.

“We gave it our all. Having had 18 months out of the sport after our accident, three months in full work and the WEG being our first 1.6m show back, all I wanted was a confident round I could be proud of.”

Frew expressed that she was proud to have represented South Africa for a second time at the games.

“I believe you cannot fail if you never give up,” she added. “I will be cheering the rest of my awesome team on.”

After her elimination on 2 September, Frew posted on her Facebook page that she had a “disappointing day”.

She said, “But that’s the sport, it’s up and down, difficult and challenging but that’s why I love it. Without difficulties success is not appreciated.”
