Opportunity to learn the beautiful game

SANDTON - Euro Soccer Schools has introduced a coaching technique for youths who are serious about the game.

With the assistance of a registered South African Football Association trainer, their aim is to provide children with a dynamic and cutting-edge soccer programme they can appreciate.

According to the schools’ coach Greg Arden, the coaching syllabus is established with logic, innovation and research from coaching techniques from Europe and South Africa.

They do not seek to “clone the European player”, but rather to use the European style of playing as a unique and practical application.

“Euro Soccer Schools trainers noticed a gap had emerged in the industry, and a sustainable, grassroots development programme was needed to maximise the natural skill of young players in South Africa,” said Arden.

When asked about his connection to the sport he said, “The soccer field has always been a place where I feel most happy.”

He said that as he developed as a player, so did his technique, skill and style. Arden was not able to commit to professional playing due to injuries, but was given the opportunity to train and coach on a professional level.

“I have the opportunity to develop, groom and guide young players to fulfil their dreams of playing soccer at a professional level,” said Arden. “It is my dream and passion to share the love of the game. I believe soccer gives children the platform to be free and creative.

He added, “A soccer ball can be a child’s best friend.”

Training sessions include the development of basic ball control skills and tactics, and keeping players moving all the time. Arden said the sessions flow easily and are entertaining, and players receive a good physical workout. The programme encourages team spirit and team work.

Parents and players are invited to preview the school and facilities during their open day at Waverley Sports Club on 7 June between 8am and 11am.
