Soccer park hosts tournament

WANDERERS- One team has the opportunity to play at the Football Fives World Championships in Dubai.

Wanderers Discovery Soccer Park has introduced a soccer tournament for amateur leagues playing at the facility. The tournament will host 5-a-side teams who regularly play at the park to compete in the tournament for a chance to win a once in a lifetime experience.

According to general manager of the soccer park Matthew Wood-Ward, he is “delighted” to have the opportunity to host the qualifiers for this unique event.

“We have no doubt that the winning team and the eventual representative will do us proud, as they have come from Discovery Soccer Park, which is without doubt the premier 5-a-side football facility,” said Wood-Ward.

The team who wins the tournament receives an all expenses trip to Dubai where they will represent their country. They have also set up a wild card option which gives amateur leagues that play outside the soccer park a chance to participate. The championship in Dubai is a platform for professional soccer clubs to scout and sign talent that compete in the tournament.

Referee and coach for the soccer park Harold Matodzi said, “The referees of Discovery Soccer Park feel honoured to be a part of this amazing opportunity.”

“The quality of football will be of the highest standard, and the referees can only benefit from this experience,” said Matodzi.
