MBALI NTSOKO: I don't think it makes a big difference, I was at an event with a lot of police but they did nothing to stop the crime taking place.

We asked Sandton residents if they believe visible policing during the festive season makes a difference. Here’s what they had to say …

GERHARD UYS: I have seen more police in the area but communities should also be involved in crime fighting in cases where criminals target certain areas.

NOOR CASSIM: It sure does make a difference if they are more visible because most of the crimes happen during this time of year.

MBALI NTSOKO: I don’t think it makes a big difference, I was at an event with a lot of police but they did nothing to stop the crime taking place.

SUE SAAYMAN: It does deter the petty crimes but they should do these operations year-round. We should not have to wait for crime to peak during the festive season.

GAVIN NKOSI: The visibility does help and does reduce crime during this time and I do feel more comfortable, but it all depends on how visible they are.
