Winners find a way, losers find an excuse

Huzlet Sbusiso Mabasa, financial director of The Seed SA writes:

The only thing standing between you and your goal is the nonsense story you keep telling yourself as to why you cannot achieve it.

[These are] the excuses you always come up with, sometimes unintentionally, because [they] are now a deeply embedded part of your personality. Frankly, people with excuses are rarely good for anything. Get rid of excuses, stop complaining and whining. Grow up and be responsible: Take ownership and control over your own life. Nobody is impressed with how good your excuses are.

You tried, you failed – so what? Every step you take in life defines who you are as a person. Learn from your mistakes and don’t be afraid of failure, because each experience teaches you the important lessons to succeed in life. Try again!

What’s your excuse?

This is the hard lecture I recently gave my young cousin who failed matric, little did I know I was talking to myself. There comes a point where you’re so sick of making excuses that you’ve had enough. A point where you are honest with yourself about the amount of effort you are putting in, and the realisation that you cannot expect the best results if you know you are not putting forth your best effort.

I agree with Bob Moawad who said, “The best day of your life is the one in which you decide your life is your own. No apologies or excuses. No one to lean on, rely on, or blame… and you alone are responsible for the quality of it. This is the day your life begins.’’

Excuses are everywhere. They can take control of your life unless you get rid of them. You hear people whine, complain and justify why they can’t do something, but in the end, there’s no one holding them back, except themselves. People always have excuses for missing opportunities.
