Take a stand against xenophobia

Giovanni Santoriello writes: The community should immediately take a stand on xenophobia.

I do not condone the present xenophobic attacks on foreign nationals.

The entire globe is undergoing radical change and I’m speaking on behalf of Italy and parts of Europe. Boat loads of refugees arrive on the shores of my birth town in Italy, and these refugees are assisted and taken care of by the authorities, local caring individuals and families. The children are medically examined and any necessary health care is given to them.

The politicians cannot take care of these matters on their own. We the communities should state our own feelings using all the resources at our own disposal such as the media and Twitter.

Start your own campaign immediately. We need to save and nurture the moral fibre of society. We cannot capitulate as a nation and as a globe. Life is precious, we only get one chance at it.

I am personally emotionally charged about these xenophobic attacks. We all strive for a better, honest and comfortable life for all.

Where has the humble approach to life gone? We should rather discuss issues, and not take anger and discord to the sword.

I strongly believe in the heart and its emotions. People in power and those champions of government, business, custodians of universities and schools should appear on national and international television stations to express their emotions publicly, and share their human feelings and show us all their moral fibre.

We all walk the same journey in our lives. Let us all harness life and not live with regret or shame.
