Resident about to go postal

SANDTON - I have not been receiving my international mail from the Northlands Post Office in Illovo for more than a year.

Anonymous from Sandton writes:

Three cheques from overseas have not arrived. I have spoken to someone who works in distribution, as well as to the manager who said they do not know what could be happening to my post.

If I did not receive post from one source, I could perhaps say it went astray, but I have not received post from three sources for the past year. I was then given the name of a gentleman at the post office who apparently investigates matters such as these but nothing has happened.

I also spoke to a police captain from the Sandton Police Station and he suggested that I phone the regional manager at the post office. Their telephone just never gets answered. What am I to do?

There must be someone else out there who is also not receiving their international mail and is having problems getting the matter investigated.

  1. I too have been having problems with international mail, this time with the Gallo Manor Post Office, I suspect the problem is at the sorting office. Are they still on a go slow or strike? How would we be able to tell???

Some mail is getting through but a Christmas card I know for certain was sent in early December and a special first day cover from the UK which was bought as a gift and posted at the end of October has yet to make an appearance.

I really despair with the Post Office, if it worked properly what a difference to business in South Africa. I very rarely use them and would never ask for overseas parcels to be sent here, the ‘International Signed For’ option that some countries have only draws attention to the parcel and there is more chance of the contents being stolen.

I have complained about missing mail in the past but felt that nobody at the SA Post Office really cared.
