Two Gauteng learners head to the finals

Varsity College is an educational brand of the Independent Institute of Education, which is registered with the Department of Education and Training as a private further and higher education and training institution.

The IIE’s Varsity College Sandton Campus hosted contestants of the regional round of the IIE’s National High School Quiz.

According to Anto Kagisho, the campus’s public relations and events coordinator, more than 30 learners participated in the Gauteng Region.

“The top two in Gauteng will compete at the finals to be hosted on October 14 at the IIE’s Varsity College Waterfall,” said Kagisho.

She added Finns Kokot, in Grade 11 at Redford House Hugh School, and Lehlogonolo Chukudu, in Grade 11 at St Catherine’s School, will compete against the other regional winners in the grand finale of the National High School Quiz.

When asked what her most challenging category was and what she looked forward to in the final round, Lehlogonolo said, “Definitely sport and geography. I am happy that I used all the past trivia quizzes to help me prepare.”

She added she was looking forward to putting her knowledge to the test and giving her best in the finals.

“I have been working hard to ensure that I stay in the competition. My family has probably had it with me using them as my coaches.”
