Empowered ladies lead at Varsity College Sandton

Ladies to Legends event at Varsity College Sandton helps the students celebrate the exceptional young women of their female student body.

September started on a high note for female students at the IIE’s Varsity College Sandton Campus.

Ladies to Legends was an evening filled with insightful conversations that had more than 50 female students feeling worthy, important, confident, and ready to claim their space in the world.

The public relations and events coordinator at the school, Anto Kagisho said, “Aptly themed ‘Empower Her’, is Varsity College Sandton’s annual Ladies to Legends event, which is filled with empowerment through a panellist conversation.

“Topics like confidence, self-worth, ‘sister’s keeper’, and tools to fall in love with yourself were discussed.”

She highlighted that Lyndlè Williams, a first-year Bachelor of Law student, MC and director of Za’ Elite Food and Bev Solutions, Zanele Sibaya, and Pat Scalone, the programme manager of the School of Humanities, had the students captivated, engaged, and ready to share their experiences.

“The room was filled with students who engaged with and were open about areas about which they were not always confident enough to speak about.”

Rethabile Mofokeng, a second-year Bachelor of Social Science student said, “Ladies to Legends is not only an event that teaches you how to love yourself, but it also teaches you how to be kind, compassionate, generous, and how to treat your ‘sisters’ with unconditional love.”

Kagisho concluded that the students donated sanitary pads as a form of entrance fee which will go towards the ‘Kids under mentorship of others’ project.
