Picketers call for Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov to ‘Go home’

Protestors have chosen the BRICS Summit as fuel to their cause to picket against Russia over President Vladimir Putin’s decision to wage war against Ukraine waging between 2014 and the present.

The Ukranian Association of South Africa, Amnesty International South Africa, and the Helen Suzman Foundation hosted a peaceful demonstration calling for an end to the invasion of Ukraine by Russia, and for the crackdown of anti-war protesters in Russia to stop.

According to reports on Jacaranda News’ social media, protesters were picketing at Innesfree Park in Sandton on August 22, the first day of the BRICS summit being held at the Sandton Convention Centre.

One of the protesters can be seen carrying a placard calling for Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov to ‘Go home’.
