Rambunctious on the square hits hard

True to the definition of the word rambunctious, Rabinowitz’s stand-up performance sent waves of laughter ripping out of the auditorium.

Sandton’s Theatre on the Square has done it again, staging their third firecracker of a hilarious experience.

This week it was Nik Rabinowitz who had the theatre’s guests hysteric with laughter with his stand-up routine, Rambunctious.

True to the definition of the word rambunctious, Rabinowitz’s stand-up performance sent waves of laughter ripping out of the auditorium, and into the streets of Sandton.

Nothing is ever ‘off the table’ with funny-man Rabinowitz who joked about every sensitive topic imaginable, stopping short of quipping about his parents. Rabinowitz is a marvellous storyteller with an engaging knack for oration. His punchline deliveries always hit their mark in the audience.

Audience members are guaranteed to hear the abridged version of how the Pam Golding property management brand came into existence as well as who owns the Pick n Pay brand, swingers’ parties, mud-wrestling strippers, and how come Rabinowitz may have been a potential target during the Isis terror scare in Sandton in 2022.

Theatre on the Square’s Daphne Kuhn and funny-man Nik Rabinowitz have gifted the Sandton theatre-going community with a true treasure in Rambunctious.

In another age, Rambunctious would have resulted in a violent riot. Rabinowitz is a stand-up comedian who could ‘single-mouthedly’ spark a global conflict or a stock market crash in only 80 minutes with a microphone in his hand.

Rambunctious reveals how intricately interconnected the global Jewish community is, as well as how influential the international Jewish community is to the global socio-economy. Rabinowitz ribbed on everything until even fate decided that he wielded too much power, which is when the lights went out unexpectedly. The short power outage did nothing to slow Rabinowitz’s exuberant, unrestrained, uproarious bantering.

Rabinowitz said he loved his work and the rewarding feeling which comes from storytelling.

“At the heart of it I love telling stories,” said Rabinowitz. “I mostly love [and often hate] the challenge of crafting material from nothing. I love it when the jokes work, particularly for the first time.

“I love sharing my experience with people in this way. “And at the end of the day [usually night], I love
the privilege to unite a room full of people through laughter.”

Rambunctious will be running at the Theatre on the Square from July 25 to August 5. For more information, contact Daphne Kuhn on 083 377 4969.
