Discovery Insure announced its partnership with Avis to support the Discovery Pothole Patrol training academy.
The partnership will see the two companies working together to identify and repair potholes on major roads in the city.
Kgodiso Mokonyane of Discovery Insure said, “We have decided to launch this training academy to give young people skills and experience that they can take elsewhere and be able to use, and we’ll also help them to get jobs or they can work with different municipalities.”
The Pothole Patrol was launched in 2021 to support Johannesburg Roads Agency in repairing roads in Johannesburg.
“We have been running this for two years. We managed to fix over 175 000 potholes over the past two years. We have been able to create more than 40 jobs, mostly for young people who were previously unemployed.”
Ramasela Ganda, group CEO of ZEDA Limited and Avis Southern Africa concluded, “We need to make sure that the roads are safe and that we fix those potholes.”
