A blanket drive is an annual act of kindness that Khanyisile Madlala started in 2017 under the name Hope 100 blanket drive.
The initiative encourages communities to identify at least 100 needy people to give blankets to before winter sets.

On June 6, the women and children of Bethany Home in Betrams welcomed a special visit from media entrepreneur Madlala and Kingdom Prosperity Church team members, accompanied by singing sensation Nannette Mbili who came bearing bags of warmth as they delivered 30 brand new blankets to the safe house.

According to Madlala, the motive behind the donation was to show support for Bethany Home as well as encourage other entities to put their money where their mouth was, which was in people and their well-being.

“As a believer in acts of kindness and philanthropy, particularly towards causes aimed at the well-being of women and children, I was drawn to the rehabilitation model adopted by Bethany Home. It is sustainable and I urge corporates and individual donors to consider their needs and operational costs and partner with them,” said Madlala.

“Our purpose is to express care, kindness, and love by ensuring warmth for the mothers and children during this cold winter month.”

Bridgette Edwards, manager of Bethany Home, said it was such an intervention that allowed them to continue providing counselling and a new start in a safe environment for the women and children in their care.
