VOXPOPS: Early detection of cancer

PinkDrive promote awareness and early detection of and screening for gender-related cancer.

Sandton Chronicle asked residents who attended the PinkDrive launch if they believe that early detection of cancer is helping or not.

Here is what they have to say:

Antoinette Joubert: Yes, I think early detection of cancer is such a good idea because it reduces the cost of treatment and it is manageable and curable when it’s seen early, compared to later.
Portia Chiphane: Yes, early detection can potentially reduce healthcare costs. Early treatment may involve less extensive procedures and short treatment durations, resulting in lower medical expenses.
Volente Alexander: When cancer is detected at an early stage, it is more localised and may not spread to other parts of the body. Early detection allows for the implementation of timely and appropriate treatment, which can significantly improve successful outcomes.
Sophie Mpete: Early detection enables a wider range of treatment options. When cancer is diagnosed early, it may be possible to choose from a variety of treatments such as surgery, and radiation therapy. The availability of more treatment options increases the likelihood of finding an approach.
