A chance to grow females in the motor-mechanics industry

Local-based motor technician is offering his time and place to train young females to become the best in the motor-mechanical industry.

As part of observing June as youth month, the prominent motor technician Nico Lagidze, based in Rivonia, will be offering females a chance at proper training in the motor-mechanics industry.

Lagidze said the lack of women’s representation in the industry makes no sense because women are most likely to be better mechanics than men given a chance and proper training.

The Mercedes-Benz and BMW specialist points out that he is offering an internship programme to young women pursuing qualifications in mechanical studies as part of observing youth month.

The candidates will have to be in the final stages of study, with only in-service training pending, before they can graduate.

“We will put them into a programme where they learn the practicalities of motor mechanics. We will discuss the duration with the candidates, according to how many months they need to graduate.”

Lagidze added that interested students will have to check out their workshop online for contact details or visit us directly.

He says applicants will be shortlisted to the final ten based on academic results, but only two will make the final cut.

“The final ten will spend a week with us, but only two out of them will stay, based on a variety of things like budget and space. But this will be ongoing, starting officially in July and again early next year. But if those who didn’t make the final cut still haven’t found internships by the time we start the next round, they’ll get first preference.”

Lagidze explained that science has proven that women have higher levels of concentration than men and are more patient.

“Women are perfectionists who do not usually leave jobs hanging, and that naturally puts them in a good space to excel as motor mechanics,” said Lagidze.
