Doing good for others in Rivonia

Rivonia-based traffic marshals are appreciated for the good that they do during load-shedding.

“Doing good to others is not a duty; it is a joy. It increases one’s health and happiness.”

Johnny Modibas, the founder of Mitchwear, lives by these words.

Modibas launched a campaign under the Mitchwear brand to appreciate the traffic marshals who every day assist the nation in controlling traffic without being asked to do so.

From the goodness of his heart, Modibas said he is doing this to show appreciation and boost the confidence of the people who make a difference in our everyday lives and are not entirely recognised by the masses in a way that invests in their well-being.

“These men take their time to assist with traffic without which, people would be late for work. Assisting these breadwinners is somehow assisting the community at large, and by trying to assist them in bettering their livelihoods they become better people within the community we are tackling several factors like the crime reduction.”

He adds that the campaign is still new, they intend to implement it everywhere in Gauteng and Limpopo and roll it out in other provinces, but so far they have managed to do a pop-up in Rivonia, Sandton, and Braamfontein.

“As a team, we dedicate time to getting to know these individuals and seeing the way they operate daily.” We find out about their daily struggles, and from there we put together a plan of action on how to best assist them.”

Modibas states that the future for this would be to form and build relationships with NGOs in surrounding areas to try and ensure that these men are fully assisted with their needs.

He concluded by saying that the pop-up on Rivonia Road was successful and that he hoped all of them would be like that.

The street traffic marshals are given:
