Crawford equestrian participate in the Sanesa Qualifier 2

A holiday that changed a lot for Alannis Waite will always be a highlight of her horse riding journey.

A holiday in the Drakensberg was the beginning of Alannis Waite’s love for horses.

The Crawford International Sandton learner remembers the Drakensberg holiday vividly as it changed her life.

“I went for my first pony ride in the Drakensberg and I have fallen in love with riding and horses since then,” she said.

A week after the holiday she started riding lessons.

Alannis is now 15 years old and a professional rider who recently participated in the Sanesa Qualifier 2 at Kyalami Equestrian Park.

She and her horse, Native Warrior, performed well, placing 5th in equitation.

Alannis added Esme Higgs, an influencer who shares her equestrian journey videos with the public, inspired and helped her improve her skills.

“The opportunity to improve, test my limits, take risks, and learn from my mistakes keeps me going.
“I am proud to be able to represent Crawford College at South African National Equestrian Schools Association and would love to be one of the great professional riders.”
