History made for DP World and South African Cricket

A partnership marked a milestone in realising their ambition to build their international reputation and inspire the next generation. This is representative of their commitment to the advancement of sport across the African continent.

Cricket and Cancer were the winners at the DP World Wanderers Stadium on April 2.

There were two games of cricket on the day. The Proteas men’s cricket team took on the Netherlands in the annual Pink Day One-Day International in support of breast cancer awareness. Not to be outdone, the DP World Lions women’s team battled it out against the Six Gun Grill Western Province team in the Women’s Provincial T20 tournament final.

The Proteas and the Lions dressed in pink which proved to be a good omen as both delivered victories.

For the sixth year running, the beneficiary of funds raised through this event was the Charlotte Maxeke Johannesburg Academic Hospital Breast Care Unit to be used for breast cancer research. R1 million was raised which included a donation from DP World of R100 000.
