Crawford International Sandton Preparatory hosts Pesach Sedar

According to Cooke, Passover affirms the significant truth that liberty is the inalienable right of every human being.

Pesach is a time to remember and celebrate the emancipation of the Jews from slavery in ancient Egypt.

One of the essential components of the Crawford International Sandton Preparatory Pesach celebration is the Seder meal, which involves the retelling of the story of the exodus from Egypt.

The Crawford learners were involved in this celebration, leading, participating in and presenting a Pesach Seder at school with their parents.

Nadia Cooke, the project coordinator, said that involving the learners in the Pesach workshop helped them understand and appreciate the significance of the festival.

“By participating in the preparation of the Seder, children learned about the history and traditions associated with Pesach. They also developed a deeper appreciation of their cultural heritage, leading to a sense of pride in their identity.”

Cooke added that presenting the Pesach Seder at school with their parents was an ideal opportunity for children to work collaboratively with their families and friends.

“The parents were beaming with pride at their children’s involvement and participation in the Seder tradition and are looking forward to continuing the tradition for the coming years.”
