Professional Australian cricketer shares experience of South Africa

As stated by the all-rounder for the U19's Australian cricket squad, Amy Smith, the mentioned some of her favourite things she enjoyed in South Africa, one including a visit to the Safari.

During one of the U19’s Australian cricket team practice sessions at Redhill School, Amy Smith, the all-rounder for the women’s squad, shared a couple of highlights of South Africa.

The young sportsperson stated that her passion and love for the sport began at an early age with her sibling.

“My mother’s side of the family was pretty keen on cricket. I started playing in the backyard with my brother and then eventually got into the boy’s cricket team. From there, I never looked back and kept growing,” said Smith.

Through her quest of being the best, Smith channelled her inner inspirations to achieve that status of being the best such the people that she looks up to, Ricky Ponting and Elyse Villani.

With her first visit in South Africa, Smith highlighted some of the things that she enjoyed while preparing and playing in the ICC U19s Women’s T20 World Cup 2023.

“I love the country, it’s a lot different from where I live in Australia. My highlight was going to the safari with my teammates and I got to see some elephants for the first time. I am currently loving the warm weather and the kind people, so my stay so far has been fantastic,” concluded Smith.
