Life is too short, but ensuring that you tick a few things off the bucket list, makes life worth living.

For Morningside resident, Michelle Reitsma, one of her main goals in life was to attempt river paddling which she accomplished successfully on her first try with the help of her coach, Moses Nghomane.

The adventure of a lifetime trial started at Florida Lake and ended at Germiston Lake on January 15. A close associate of Reitsma, Jennie Dallas, detailed her journey from start to finish which had some challenges for the rookie.

As stated by Dallas, in the past few months, individuals were not able to use the facility for the sport due to sewerage pollution leaks and the presence of flash floods.

“The rivers have been flushed clean and have good flow which is a manageable level for new learners testing their canoeing skills. We are grateful for the highly experienced coach, Moses Nghomane, for making it easy and fun and we are proud of Reitsma for taking the challenge head on,” concluded Dallas.
