Speedster arrested in Sandton after R700 000 worth of drugs seized

Hawks recently arrested a suspect on the corner of Rivonia Road and Kelvin Drive after crystal meth worth an estimated value of R700 000 was found to be in his possession.

A 39-year-old suspect appeared in the Randburg Magistrate’s Court on November 11 after R700 000 worth of crystal meth was found in his possession.

The suspect was speeding in his vehicle and was pulled over by a Hawks Serious Organised Crime Unit on November 10.

According to the spokesperson of the Hawks Captain Lloyd Ramovha, the suspect was driving a white Hyundai sedan and was stopped and searched on the corner of Rivonia Road and Kelvin Drive.

“Two lunchbox containers suspiciously wrapped with tape were found in a backpack that was concealed under the front seat.

“A further inspection of the contents revealed a powder-like substance that was established to be crystal meth. The seized narcotics, weighing about 2kg, are valued at approximately R700 000.”
