Shootout between robbers and local security ends with an arrest

Station Commander of Randburg Police Station, Brigadier Michelle Jones, thanks her local security partners after a successful arrest during a shootout in Daniel Brink Park.

One suspect was shot and arrested by a local security company after a failed robbery attempt.

According to the Randburg Police Station spokesperson, Captain Makgowanyana Maja, four individuals entered a home and threatened victims with firearms for their personal belongings. The incident occurred in Daniel Brink Park based in Randburg.

During a patrol routine, officers from a local security company noticed unusual activities happening in the facility and approached one of the suspects who were at the gate keeping watch.

Upon their arrival, the suspect stationed at the gate opened fire directed at the officers which led them to fire shots back at the individual.

Three of the suspects fled the scene while the suspect guarding the gate was apprehended after sustaining injuries.

“The 32-year-old suspect was taken to hospital under police watch and is expected to appear before the Randburg Magistrate’s Court after being discharged,” said Maja.

The Station Commander of the Randburg Police Station applauded the hard work of the officials from the security company that led to the arrest of one suspect.
