Extreme weather causes uptake in fallen trees in Sandton

Following a number of fallen and uprooted trees in the Sandton area as a result of the extreme rains, Johannesburg City Parks and Zoo urges resident to report incidents to its 24-hour call line.

As the rainy season settles in for the summer, residents are urged to please report any fallen trees to Johannesburg Parks and Zoo for efficient intervention.

This follows various incidents in the Parkmore and Bryanston areas where trees, as a result of strong winds and rain, blocked off roads for extended periods of time.

“The much needed rains are a welcome relief however it also triggers an increase in flooding and a surge in the number of reports of uprooted trees,” said JCPZ spokesperson Jenny Moodley.

Residents are urged to use the 24-hour call centre helpline on 011 375 5555 for all emergencies.

“Emergency teams are on standby in all regions to ensure that trees that are obstructing motorways or that have fallen, damaging property, are removed within 24 hours,” said Moodley.
