This was according to JSE director of marketing and corporate affairs Vuyo Lee at the Investment Challenge Awards on October 21 in Sandton.

The Investment Challenge aims to stimulate students’ and learners’ interest in financial literacy so that they can continue to self-educate throughout their lives.
“Throughout the year, various teams from schools and tertiary institutes across South Africa participated in the JSE Investment Challenge and some teams created portfolios that outperformed their fellow competitors,” said Lee.

“Today [October 21] we recognise the hard work of those teams because you [learners and students] represent the future of the JSE and the future of South Africa.”
Lee added that the significance of the investment challenge was to teach the youth the importance of investing and the dynamics of the stock exchange.
“I would like to thank this year’s participants for their interest in enhancing their understanding of this very dynamic world of trade and investment. We at the JSE hope that through the challenge you have found yourself more curious and excited about personal finance.”
