Women of PGA South Africa head to New Mexico

Professional South African golfer, Dale Hayes, wishes the South African women who will be participating in the PGA Tour in New Mexico the best of luck at the Bryanston Country Club.

Six South African women who have mastered the art of golf will have the opportunity to proudly wave the country’s flag in New Mexico after qualifying for the Ladies Professional Golf Association (PGA).

Lovers of golf from various parts of South Africa, especially those in Bryanston, took the time off their schedule to show their support in wishing the ladies of golf a safe trip to New Mexico. Alet de Langen, Julie Bruyns-Leach, Nicole van Pletsen, Rachel Howard and team captain Leigh-Jane Middleton will be making their debut in the PGA tour that will commence on October 24 at the Twin Warriors Golf Club.

On a bigger scale, the engagement of the prestigious tournament highlights that the women will be making South African history. All six individuals are set to be the first team to participate in the tournament.

The day of the fundraiser on October 11 had guests playing a friendly yet competitive game of golf in pairs. After the golf session, professional South African golfer, Dale Hayes, welcomed guests to the official ceremony which mainly highlighted the milestone celebration.

“The opportunity to play for your country is fantastic, especially in an individual sport such as golf. We are extremely honoured to be a part of this big achievement and we wish you all a successful tournament. Show the world how we celebrate after winning, the trophy is coming home,” said Hayes.

Before the prize-giving ceremony, Middleton introduced everyone in the facility to the team that will be representing the country in New Mexico and shared a few words.
