Members of the Morningside bowling committee all came prepared for a competitive and fun session of lawn bowls with a twist. Participants were given two commandments upon their arrival which were to not take the session of friendly games seriously and to wear any kind of hat. Players who were caught breaking the rules were instantly penalised.

“We started our friendly games back in June. They were three couples, and we usually have a rule where you are not allowed to play with your partner, so we started this new tradition as a challenge for everyone to get to know one another. We have shown a great level of growth from the first time we started playing up until now,” said organiser Donovan Reid. “The whole idea with the hats is to bring out the fun within everyone.”
