Bramley Police arrest suspect in possession of unlicensed firearm in Marlboro

During a recent stop and search check point in Marlboro, Bramley Police arrested a suspect for being in possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.

Bramley Police recently arrested a 36-year-old man for being in possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition in Marlboro Gardens.

Assisted by CAP Security reaction officers, the suspect was arrested on the corner of Lillium Road and Zinnia Drive during a stop and search checkpoint.

“The team was busy stopping and searching the vehicles when a vehicle was stopped at the checkpoint. The officers then conducted a search on it and found [an] unlicensed firearm and ammunition which the driver was unable to give [a] satisfactory explanation,” said Bramley Police spokesperson Captain Molefe Mogodi.

Mogodi added that the driver was unable to produce a firearm license and, upon inspection, the serial number on the firearm had been filed off.

“He [the suspect] was immediately arrested and taken into custody. The arrested suspect will be profiled to check if he is on the police’s wanted list or not.”

The suspect will appear in the Alexandra Magistrate’s Court.
