Hyde Park High School elects new grey tie leaders

Hyde Park High School celebrated the new term with the announcement of its newly elected grey tie leaders.

Hyde Park High School kicked off the new school term with the announcement of its newly elected senior councillors, also known as the grey tie leaders.

The Grade 11 learners, nominated by their peers and teachers, were eager to take up their new role within the management of the school.

“Each of the new grey ties was given the opportunity on the day to state their goals to make changes for the better of the school, which elicited some loud cheers from the audience,” said the school’s communication secretary Avril Wright.

During the announcement, school principal Melanie Kallie congratulated the learners, emphasising the responsibility of their election and the valuable role that they play as a link between the learners and the school’s senior management.

“The balance of this year will give the Grade 11 grey tie nominees a taste of what this leadership role entails, and the new year will see them fully elected to be a senior blue tie,” said Wright.
