MAD2Run takes detour into dodgeball to raise funds for campaign in Sandton

Representatives of the MAD2Run Foundation unite and invite members of the public to their dodgeball fundraising tournament at the Sandton Action Sports arena.

With the fight for better education for all, the MAD2Run took on the responsibility by hosting their fundraiser event at the Sandton Action Sports arena on September 23.

The event that started in the evening had participants eagerly waiting to play some friendly games of dodgeball to make a difference. Organisers of the event, who are also set to participate in this year’s MAD2Run journey from Johannesburg to Cape Town – Lianne McCaffery and Louise de Jager – invited the public to lend a helping hand in their operation of securing education to those that cannot afford.

“We are all here to raise some funds for the organisation. We have chosen a dodgeball tournament for this year which is a unique way for everyone to have fun. We are grateful for all that made it possible, participated and contributed. Glad to see that dodgeballers don’t dodge charity,” said the managing director of the MAD2Run Foundation, Dayle Raaff.

In the previous year, the organisation successfully reached their target of raising funds after completing its journey to Cape Town from Sandton City within a duration of seven days.

“The MAD Leadership Foundation is an educational initiative which seeks to empower and educate children and take them through varsity. It has been going on for 10 years and it is led by Dayle Raaff. Individuals can still show their support by donating,” said Lianne McCaffery.

The friendly tournament saw the likes of the Dodgeball South Africa Association putting their money where their mouth is. With 18 teams, two small courts and two big courts, entertainment was in the air. The majority of the teams came out wearing their synchronised outfits to show that they mean business.

“At the end of it all, it’s not about who lost and who won. It’s about how we impacted people’s lives,” concluded McCaffery.
