Imbumba Foundation launches their 2023 Trek4Mandela operation

Sandton based organisation, Imbumba Foundation shares visions and plans of the future which includes another expedition in another location.

Members of the Imbumba Foundation invited a few selected individuals to join them in celebrating the official launch of the foundation’s 2023 Trek4Mandela edition.

The event which took place at the Nelson Mandela Foundation auditorium at Houghton Estate on September 16 had a full room of prominent figures. Most of the individuals who were in attendance have contributed to the fight against period poverty with the foundation’s campaign for a number of years.

The Sandton-based foundation has been leading the fight for more than 10 years and has managed to do so with the Trek4Mandela campaign. Participants of the campaign help raise funds for girls facing period poverty in rural areas while paying homage to Nelson Mandela by climbing Mount Kilimanjaro.

During their latest reunion, the founder of the foundation, Richard Mabaso, thanked everyone present for assisting the team with their vision. Guest speakers were welcomed by Sello Hatang, CEO of the Nelson Mandela Foundation, to share a few of their special memories during the expedition.

“Climbing the mountain is no joke, it’s a challenge. You have to dig deep inside to find that strength that you thought you never had before. After the expedition, my whole mindset changed for the better: I can quickly channel my inner strength to help me with any challenges,” said Tiisetso Dyantyi.

The foundation was presented with a literal and figurative big cheque of over R1m by a representative of Engen, Ronald Chauke.

Toward the end of the ceremony communication and marketing director, Sina Moyane announced that the foundation will have a total of three expeditions next year and will take on another challenge in the form of a mountain.
