24 female businesswomen, ready for corporate success, graduate from Phakama Women’s Academy

ABSA and Phakama Women’s Academy honour their commitment to empowering young women at a graduation ceremony in Sandton.

On October 3, The Venue in Sandton hosted a remarkable graduation ceremony for 24 female graduates from Vega, AFDA, and UJHB, organised by ABSA in partnership with Phakama Women’s Academy.

These talented women have been mentored by prominent female leaders from top companies, including C-suite executives from ABSA, Publicis, Nestle, and Africology, equipping them for successful careers in the corporate world.

Precious Ratau, Thalia Pillay, Siphewesihle Qabazi, and Koketso Nkwe.

Phakama Women’s Academy, a key initiative within ABSA’s Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) programmes, is dedicated to empowering young women as they transition into their first jobs.

The academy provides essential skills and confidence, preparing graduates to navigate the challenges of the workplace.

According to Shale Gama, the director of Phakama Women’s Academy, its mission is a robust mentorship programme that connects students with successful women across Gauteng, fostering invaluable professional relationships.
