Local entrepreneurs highlight innovation and passion at SMEgo summit

Key insights on entrepreneurship were shared at the Sandton-based Old Mutual SMEgo Entrepreneurs Connect Summit, where participants discussed overcoming challenges and fostering sustainable business growth.

Entrepreneurship took centre stage at the Old Mutual SMEgo Entrepreneurs Connect Summit held in Sandton on September 9, showcasing a vibrant array of local business leaders and their journeys towards success.

Defined by the Global Entrepreneurship Monitor as the initiation and management of new ventures, entrepreneurship remains a crucial driver of innovation and economic growth in South Africa.

The summit featured prominent figures such as Kealeboga Pule of Nungu Diamonds, Ntombenhle Khathwane of AfroBotanics, and Talifhani Banks, CEO of AnalyticsX and Spaza Eats, among others.

Banks stressed the importance of passion, urging entrepreneurs to align their ventures with their true interests.

“You must have the fighting spirit within you,” he advised. “Passion first, and profits will follow.”

“A failing business or a failing entrepreneur? The true failure is in giving up,” she asserted, advocating for resilience in the face of challenges.
